Our core business is providing comprehsive practice management services to independent psychologist. Our Psychologists

Our network of skilled psychologists are highly experienced in the areas of counselling for emotional, behavioural and mental health issues. They also provide Employee Assistance Programs to businesses and organisations in both the public and private sectors.

Ahead Psychologists are registered with the Psychologists Board of Queensland and members of the Australian Psychological Society.

Each psychologist is an approved provider with Medicare and private health insurance funds.

Pyschologists' Profiles

Michelle McBride

Michelle McBride is a registered psychologist in Queensland with over 18 years experience. She has worked in public health services, non-government community organisations and private practice working with both adults and adolescents experiencing a wide range of mental health problems.

Michelle’s areas of expertise include the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression, as well as mindfulness-based stress management strategies to enhance emotional and mental wellbeing. Michelle also has extensive experience treating alcohol and other substance abuse disorders and working with parents of adolescents to manage relationship difficulties.

Michelle provides professional supervision for psychologists and other allied health professionals. She also has experience in organisational leadership roles as a manager of small and large teams.

Christine Mitchem
Christine Mitchem is a registered psychologist in Queensland and has a Masters degree in Psychology (Health). She has previous experience working in Government Mental Health and Community Health services, and private practice in Far North Queensland and Western Australia. This has provided the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals (adults and children) suffering from mental illness.

Christine’s area of special interest and developed expertise is the treatment of depressive disorders, particularly in women. She also has experience treating men and adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders as well as individuals experiencing grief. Christine also has experience in the provision of supervision to developing psychologists.

Renae Kurth
Renae Kurth is a registered Psychologist in Queensland and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has worked in the field of counselling and psychology for nearly a decade, specialising in therapeutic work with children and adolescents and their families. She is an accredited practitioner of Triple P, the Positive Parenting Program (Level 4 Standard), and has developed an expertise in ensuring counsellor effectiveness, in particular, with adolescents. She has presented at international conferences on the topic and has conducted research on what methods enhance the effectiveness of counselling.

Renae has lectured in the area of Psychology and Counselling for several years. She has also worked with adults on a broad range of issues such as anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, stress, grief and loss, and life-stage changes.

Ian Kershaw
Ian is a registered psychologist in Queensland with over 10 years experience in counselling. He has been in private practice for the last two years. His previous experience includes working as a counsellor and supervisor for Kids Helpline. He also is trained in the implementation of the Triple P program and has conducted workshops in this area.

Ian worked for four years as a relationship counsellor for Relationships Australia. Working with this organization enabled him to gain extensive experience working with couples and families. He has also conducted parenting programs and children’s workshops.

Ian is very committed to reshaping the lives of people by giving them tools and strategies to communicate more effectively and overcome difficulties through individual direction. He specializes in areas of stress and anger management, overcoming anxiety and depression and assisting clients to develop  more positive  self-concepts.
