Counselling can be provided face-to-face in our rooms at Stafford in Brisbane, over the telephone or via online video conference, whichever is more convenient for you.
WHAT IS THE AHEAD EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ?
The Ahead Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, voluntary, and confidential program that helps staff (including managers) work through various life challenges that may adversely affect health, personal wellbeing and/or job performance.
Ahead EAP is provided by independent private-practicing psychologists at Ahead Psychology; a long running and well trusted psychology practice.
All psychologists are:
- Highly experienced;
- Registered with the Psychologists Board of Australia (PBA);
- Practice within the PBA’s Code of Ethics;
- Undertake a PBA approved program of continuing professional development; and
- Hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
HOW CAN AHEAD EAP HELP ME ?
Ahead EAP offers support and assistance with personal and work related issues that may impact on your well-being, work performance, safety, individual and workplace morale and psychological health.
The program offers short-term, solution focused counselling aimed at helping you to:
- Understand and clarify issues that are concerning you, including mental health issues.
- Identify and explore options to address those issues.
- Develop plans to approach the issues and find constructive solutions

Your Ahead EAP psychologist can help you with issues including, but not limited to:
- Stress
- Depression
- Anxiety, worry, fear and panic
- Trauma
- Personal relationship and marriage issues
- Grief and loss
- Adjustment to major life changes
- Self-esteem and personal confidence
- Family relationship difficulties
- Workplace stress and pressure
- Relationship difficulties between co-workers
- Adjustment to organisational change
- The impact of critical incidents in the workplace
- Work and career problems
CONFIDENTIALITY
Ahead EAP consultations are strictly confidential.
Your psychologist will not share information about you with anyone unless authorised to do so by you in writing, or if required under Australian law.
In the case of a workplace issue, you may authorise your psychologist to discuss the matter with your manager, or another person you nominate to help address the situation.
Your manager/supervisor or HR may suggest the use of the EAP, but the decision is always voluntary.
